Award from Sir David Attenborough21 May 2024 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin)) |
Our pupils have shown how much we all care about nature and wildlife. Together, we have done amazing things, which have already been recognised through our Wild Challenge Bronze Award, gained last year.
This year, we are working towards our Silver Award. We have taken part in the Big School Bird Watch; made habitats for wildlife - hedgehog houses, a bat box and a frog hibernaculum. We have planted a flower meadow which have bee drinking stations in. Everyone in the school has participated in an activity at some point, either through Forest School sessions or during Wild Wednesdays.
We are currently working on a biodiversity action plan. We have become habitat explorers, making a note of what habitats we have. We chose an area of the woodland and checked what wildlife we have plus we are tracking animals we might not see during the day and making casts of the footprints.
Earlier this month, we were awarded the School for Nature certificate, signed by Sir David Attenborough in recognition of our efforts to make our school a little wilder and helping to bring back nature.
Well done everyone!
