New Training Hub for Girls – free taster sessions and ongoing training opportunity
There has never been a better time for women’s sport and the England Cricket Board is keen to support girls’ cricket and attract new players.
This year, Cirencester Cricket Club will host the Cotswold Girls’ Cricket Hub. The Cotswold Girls’ Hub works in partnership with local clubs in the area to ensure there are enough girls together for girls-only training and matches.
This is a fantastic opportunity for any girl from Year 5 and above – for girls who already play cricket and those who are new to it. Girls are invited to one of the free taster sessions on Tuesday 18th and 25th April 6-8pm, and hope they will choose to join the Hub for ongoing training.
Cricketers with any level of experience are encouraged to attend and there will be soft ball and hard ball training. The Hub is run by qualified coaches on Tuesday evenings 6-8pm in Cirencester.
Players who attend the Hub are always signposted to their ‘local club’, so they can see what opportunities that club provides too. Not all clubs offer Women and Girls cricket, so the Hub is a great place for players to benefit from additional coaching and match play, whilst retaining their membership at their local club.
Cost should not be a barrier to joining the Hub. In addition to low membership fees (just £30 for the 2023 season after the taster sessions), help with sports kit is also available. The Cotswold Hub has been set up by volunteers with the support of Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation, and any payment is solely intended to contribute towards the running costs of the programme.
