A visit from The North Cotswold Wind Band18 November 2022 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin)) |
Yesterday, we had a visit from The North Cotswold Wind Band who performed in our assembly for the whole school. They played music from The Lion King, Jurassic Park, Shrek and other well-known medleys. Some of their musicians are as young as Y3! It was incredibly inspiring to see such talented young people sharing their love of music with us.
Learning to play a musical instrument from an early age is helpful for children in many ways. It enhances their overall confidence and helps them learn dedication and patience.
10 Reasons Why Children Should Play a Musical Instrument
- Improves memory
- Stimulates creativity

- Improves listening skills
- Introduces new cultures and history
- Improves social skills
- Improves general well-being
In school, we are able to offer woodwind lessons with our peripatetic teacher, Rosy Crocker. Rosy teaches flute and clarinet for children from Y3 upwards and can teach saxophone from Y6.
If your child was inspired by the Brass section of the Wind Band and would like to learn to play a brass instrument, we would be happy to source a peripatetic brass teacher.
Please contact the school office if your child would like to start to play a musical instrument and have lessons in school.
Maybe we will be able to create Andoversford’s own Wind Band!
