Free Talk Money Week Twilight: video games, money and child financial harm
Thursday 10th November 4pm to 5pm
Who is this for? Teachers, parents or anyone who supports children and young people
Join us next week in conversation with Dr David Zendle, one of the world’s leading experts on the social impacts of video game monetisation. He’ll present his pioneering research on how loot boxes and microtransactions are changing the face of video games and increasingly exposing children to financial risk and harm.
With the majority of top games in the Google Play store featuring loot boxes or microtransactions, this is an issue which your students will almost certainly encounter. We’ll be exploring the issue, including links to online gambling and ‘money muling’, and discussing how PSHE education can help.
This session will be introduced and facilitated by Jonathan Baggaley, Chief Executive of the PSHE Association.
