Comic Relief - raising money to support the crisis in the Ukraine14 March 2022 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin)) |
Many of us have been affected by the news of event in Ukraine over the last few weeks. In school, children have had very sensible discussions about the crisis and have kept up to date through our Picture News and Newsround sessions. Newsround has some particularly useful coverage and resources to help explain the situation to children which you can access at home.
The children of Andoversford would like to take action. It can be hard to know what to do to help and support
others, especially with so many good causes out there.
On Friday, many people around the country will be raising money for Comic Relief, who aim to reduce poverty. This year, the organisers of Comic Relief have explained that donations to the charity will also be used to help those who are fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.
To show our solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, we are inviting children to wear something blue or yellow with their school uniform to school on Friday 18th March. We have set up a just giving page so that you can make a donation. Please donate generously if you can.
Comic Relief: Where does your money go?
Poverty isn’t simple, and it’s not always easy to see. It’s behind so many of the issues that we work to tackle. In each of these areas, the COVID-19 pandemic has made people’s lives even harder, so your support is as important as ever.
We believe those who are closest to the issues have the best solutions, so we work with them to build a better world.
We are also extremely concerned about the fast-deteriorating ongoing situation in Ukraine. As the conflict intensifies, civilians are increasingly at risk. We’re working with our partners right now to make sure your Red Nose Day donations can support people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
