In school, we have been using ‘the wheel of choice’ to help children regulate and process their difficult emotions. 

Each class might have a few wheels for different situations, for example when they feel angry, sad, anxious or have fallen out with friends. 

The wheels are displayed in a calm area of the classroom where the children can retreat to when they feel overwhelmed. The wheels have suggested activities for them to choose from. This enables the children to process and control their emotions. 

As you can see from the photo, there are lots of options to choose from. Please keep an eye out next week, as each class will share more information about how they use the wheel of choice in their classroom.
